Shene Commodore’s building a durable career one good decision at a time. The Midwestern native hasn’t ever lacked ambition. She decided early on that she had dueling interests in being both an entertainer and pursuing a career in law. This might sound like a steep mountain to scale, mastering both vocations. However, Commodore applied herself to realizing that dream with a singular drive. She received a bachelor’s degree in marketing and management and soon began working for the Federal government in various roles. That period of her life took her to far-flung locations she might have otherwise never visited.
She likewise had ambitions to practice corporate law. However, she’s increasingly committed herself to honing her talents as an actress and entertaining. She is a firm believer in making her opportunities and, to that end, has recently been working on an one-woman musical for theater. Its pending debut will have a transformative effect on Commodore’s career.
It will join a growing list of such moments. She recently appeared in the lead role of a New York Homicide episode for the Oxygen Channel. She has also appeared in several independent films, shows, musicals, and web series. Her best-known role yet came with an appearance in Lorraine Hansberry’s To Be Young Gifted and Black. Each new project has brought Commodore greater exposure than before and, most importantly, the respect of industry peers and professionals.

It all started with her losing a part in a grade school production. Commodore argued that she deserved the part because she was better suited for the role than her classmates cast in the production. She convinced her teacher to create a role for her in the future and began taking part in school theater. She shares the same impassioned convictions today. They have driven her to continue sharpening her craft with respected acting coach Marishka Phillips.
The same thread runs through her life. She’s a single parent of two daughters and nourishes ongoing interests in other creative endeavors. Her passion for modeling, law, singing, and playing piano is key to understanding her character. Shene Commodore embraces life-affirming virtues that inform her artistic temperament. She inhabits every role she takes with a creative impulse to understand and connect.
It is an impulse that will continue motivating her. There are undoubtedly new roles and projects in her future. However, she treats each new opportunity for self-expression as if it is more important than any before. Her hyper-charged empathy and thirst for knowledge make her an ideal candidate for a broad range of roles. She is anything but limited.
She will only continue to grow – as both an individual and as an artist. Shene Commodore illustrates the modern performer at their most wide-open. Instead of spending their energies pursuing one or two specific ambitions, they meet varied challenges with ability, skill, and full emotional investment. Artists such as are indispensable for innovative work that emphasizes exploring human lives and interactions. Shene Commodore is indispensable now and will only become more so.
