Hello, thank you for having me! My single, Weight of the World came out a few months ago as part of my self-produced first EP “Ballads of a Young Mind”. I’d been working on that for a year and I’m very happy that I’m able to share it with the world.
What inspires your music?
Words, stories, people, memories… Anything that can trigger some strong emotions. To me, emotion is the most important part of music.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up on the Belgian coast, in a small city called Knokke-Heist. I really liked growing up right next to the ocean.
What is the meaning behind your song, Weight of the World?
In a more broad sense, it’s about coming out of a difficult situation and feeling unsure about what’s to come. To me, it’s about the time I came out of depression. I’d been living with it for a long time and the darkness had become a comfort zone. Coming out of it and feeling happy was unusual. Almost scary. Even though I knew that I was in a much better place, it felt like I was left feeling vulnerable, with a completely new sense of reality. The song is about the duality of those feelings. On one hand dark and comfortable, on the other hand calm and insecure.
How do you practice self-care?
I think eating healthy and sleeping well is the foundation of self-care. Apart from that, I go on daily walks and to the gym once per week. I try to take care of my mind by learning as much as I can and having meaningful conversations with others as often as possible.
What is your advice to someone looking to get into the music industry?
Work hard, keep trying, be kind. It’s difficult, but far from impossible.
