How would you describe your current musical style Sasha?

My current musical style probably falls within the genre of Alternative Folk/Rock, but for me, this album is a piano and guitar driven call to action to travel and experience the world.

Who were some of your music influences that inspired your passion for songwriting/composing?

The variety of artists that have inspired me on my musical journey is far-reaching, ranging from Cat Stevens, Passenger, Snow Patrol, Coldplay and U2 to Moby and Johannes Linstead.

What would you like your potential new fans to take away from the new music that you have created?

I would like my potential new fans to take the lyrics to heart, and to realise that life is wonderful, fragile, rich and temporary. This realisation often spurs one to action, and for me, travel and music are the ways to enrich and fill one’s soul.

Describe the music scene in your country of Australia.

Australia has always produced amazing musicians, and there is nothing like an energetic rock song to lift the spirits of the nation. I think the landscape of the country and the attitude of Australian people really lend itself to the development of emotive and powerful rock.

What is the best concert you have ever attended?

I have seen Coldplay several times, and the atmosphere they produce at their shows is phenomenal.

What are you currently working on right now?

I have just released my new album – Nomad. This is the culmination of many years of work, inspiration, travel and incredible experiences. I think the title captures the spirit of this album, beyond which a complex narrative is woven throughout.

Is there a song you have written and released that stands out as your personal favorite, and why?

Track 2 on the album I have just released is my personal favourite. It’s called ‘Ignite’ and it represents the values of belief, hope and perseverance. In some ways, this song reminds me of the need to believe and persist. I hope that for other listeners, it becomes an inspiration to never give up on whatever their dreams and hopes might be, because one day, that fire will ignite.

How have you evolved as a songwriter over the last 2 years during these challenging times?

I think that a songwriter should constantly be evolving, and it is the challenging times that often trigger the greatest development within a person. The last 2-3 years have taught me to take nothing for granted, to be grateful and to do everything I can to lead a meaningful life. I think that this renewed appreciation for the wonders of life will infuse the new music I have been and will be writing.

If you could co-write a song with one of today’s biggest songwriters, who would that be?

I would love to co-write a song with Passenger. I think he is a superb lyricist who draws inspiration from the rich and complex experiences of life, and produces genuine, heartfelt music.

What are your future plans for you as a songwriter/composer…what do you hope to accomplish?

I think music is a calling for people. I simply wish to experience as much as possible and to express myself through my music. Any musician wants people to hear their music – that’s a given. So, just to have people listening to my songs and connecting their own experiences with my music, that really means a lot to me. I would love to be able to travel the world and write/perform my music.
