Singer, songwriter, performer & influencer Checkthestar is not afraid to mess around with the boundaries of music. His decision to put a rock spin on classic song Lately featuring Aaron Carter is all about taking chances and celebrating the “Little Prince of Pop,” Aaron Carter.

Lately originally featured on World Star, earning over eight million views in one month got the attention of platinum producer #TheBassGawd who reached out to Checkthestar and together decided to flip “Lately” to make it into a rock version just in time for the one year anniversary of Aaron Carter’s passing.

About Aaron Carter:

Aaron Carter was just 9 years old when he opened for The Backstreet Boys and within a few short years had become an international star with hit songs like “I Want Candy.” Dubbed “The Little Prince of Pop,” he was a mainstay on red carpets and in tabloids, Hollywood royalty, alongside famous older brother Nick Carter. Famous by 9 and struggling by 20, the teen sensation would fall amidst family turmoil, mental health struggles and a long addiction that ultimately took his life in November 2022.

Miguel Garcia, otherwise known as Checkthestar, is an artist from Tampa, Florida. Musicians typically sign to a record label, but Check landed himself a unique deal with the “Little Prince of Pop” in front of millions of fans across all social media channels. Not too long after the signing with Aaron Carter, Check found himself in a position of grief when Carter was discovered dead in the bathtub at his home in Lancaster Ca. Check to this day is still mourning the life of Aaron Carter and wants nothing more than to pay tribute to his brother, partner and best friend Aaron Carter.
