Wendy Stuart will be hosting TriVersity Talk! this Wednesday at 7 PM ET with featured guest Betty Buttonz.
TriVersity Talk! is a weekly web series with featured guests discussing their lives, activism and pressing issues in the LGBTQ Community. With TriVersity Talk!, the goal is to laugh and learn.
TriVersity Talk! Is part of TriVersity’s ICARE Initiative. ICARE stands for Increasing Community Awareness through Relevant Education. ICARE Programs are generously funded by The Greater Pike Community Foundation.
Betty Buttonz is an all-American bigwig, busybody, gay divorcee, spreading joy to all she meets while living her best life on the Jersey Shore!
Inspired by Betty Hutton, an epic comic songstress of the 40s and 50s Betty Buttonz is quickly making a name for herself in the New Jersey/New York drag scene while climbing social ladders and promoting various good causes in her hometown of Atlantic Highlands and beyond.
As a performer Betty serves a vintage aesthetic and a diverse repertoire of live vocals that mix old and new. As a producer, Betty is proudly introducing drag to her beloved small town in Monmouth County by organizing regular shows that connect drag with her passion for community-building through the arts.
In addition to her drag persona Betty, Angus is President of the Atlantic Highlands Arts Council, an entirely volunteer-run nonprofit devoted to strengthening community through the arts. AH Arts is the creative heartbeat of a special little town – the “Jewel of the Bayshore.” In a beautiful main street gallery space the organization showcases creativity in many forms while bringing people together for important conversations and enriching experiences. AH Arts is committed to providing a wide range of free or low-cost programming that helps ensure the arts are inclusive and accessible to all. Under Betty’s leadership the organization is focused on growing its membership and funding base, diversifying its range of arts offerings, lifting up and celebrating local artists, and deepening collaboration with other community groups and initiatives.
Betty is passionate about drag as an art form, a vehicle for community building and philanthropy, an act of protest, and – most fundamentally – a powerful expression of love.
