What has been the greatest moment of 2020 for you?
The beginning of 2020 in January was a really great moment when I performed at the Troubadour with my band! That was surreal because I left LA for quite some time and I always dreamed of performing there when I returned back.
How do you want your art to be remembered?
I want it to be remembered as something you can’t quite put your finger on. So… different. I’ve been told that a few times and I wasn’t sure how I felt about that lol, but I love that now.
How have you felt most appreciated as a creative and artist?
There was a time that I second-guessed what I was doing and contemplated conforming to what’s out there. I thought I was too different or didn’t really fit into one genre, but now that’s where I feel the most appreciated. I love that I’m not like the rest. And I kinda fall between a bunch of different categories. I swear I should’ve been born in another era!
Who have been your strongest allies in your career?
My strongest allies have been Carol King, Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera, Sara Bareilles, Lana Del Rey, and now Sasha Sloan a bit, to name a few!
What do you see as the most important part of your journey?
The most important part of this journey is that I am enjoying it, but also that I do what I set out to do, and that I never have any regrets because of fear holding me back. Which it did when I was younger.
Please tell us about your latest project and how we can get involved!
I just released a new single called My Wicked Game! It’s dark, playful, and dramatic. I love it because I got to tap into my alter ego and become someone else. I’m also a sucker for dark sultry songs. It was produced by Ian Barter from the UK. I flew into Nashville to record it at Warner where his publisher is. It was the first time I met him and we ended up having a smooth easy day. That’s the best!
