Recently, Zarnett unveiled his latest musical offering, a captivating five-song EP titled Letting You Break My Heart. The opening track, bearing the same name, immediately transports listeners to a nostalgic era reminiscent of the 1950s and 1960s. The song effortlessly merges accessibility with a velvety smooth sound, complemented by compelling dynamics. It serves as a stellar opener, setting the stage for an exceptional musical journey

Following the opener, the poignant ballad “My Life As a Paper Plane” takes center stage, showcasing its heartfelt and introspective nature. With a touch of melancholy, the song’s beauty captivates the listener. While centered around piano and vocals, atmospheric elements add depth and elevate the composition. The drums, produced uniquely, contribute to the song’s distinctiveness.

The track titled “Hey Elisa!” is an absolute gem, radiating warmth that envelops the listener. The meticulous arrangement of percussion enhances the song’s impact, while the overall instrumentation is nothing short of superb. Zarnett’s vocal delivery shines brilliantly, effortlessly capturing attention. The inclusion of slide guitar and xylophone adds a delightful touch, elevating the song to greater heights.

“I’ll Be Yours” reminded me a bit of Father John Misty and Fleet Foxes. The vocals soar on this song and Zarnett proves himself to be one heck of a vocalist. The Americana on this song is strong and has a mid level type of energy to it.

Concluding the EP is “Letting You Down,” an incredibly intimate and captivating performance that immediately grabs your attention. The intricate and technically impressive guitar work showcases impressive creativity. Subtle dynamics add depth to the composition. As a closer, it perfectly wraps up the EP, leaving a lasting impression and solidifying its impact.

Zarnett’s release is a resounding success, as he skillfully explores various genres and styles that feel both familiar and timeless. His ability to infuse each track with its own distinctiveness results in a collection of songs that stand the test of time in their own remarkable fashion.
