For many of us, our four-legged companions are some of our longest and most intimate relationships. This past spring, members of the Women In Music Gathering discovered that writing songs dedicated to the cats and dogs in their lives was a common theme, while performing at a showcase at the Loop at the Armory in Somerville.

And so was birthed the idea to organize a special Benefit Concert for Buddy Dog Humane Society of Sudbury, a no kill shelter that cares for and facilitates the placement of unwanted cats and dogs as pets in suitable homes. Buddy Dog also establishes procedures and facilities that promote the health care of stray cats and dogs, prevents cruelty, alleviates pain and suffering and promotes education about care of dogs and other pets for the citizens of Massachusetts.

The Women In Music Gathering (WIMG) is a New England-based, intergenerational artist-alliance of women in music: singer-songwriters and performing musicians, with the primary goals of collaboration and support, extending to both personal and professional aspects of being a woman in music. WIMG co-founder, Linda Marks produced a sold-out WIMG Showcase at the Burren in Somerville on November 18, and is delighted to be building on this momentum with the April 6 Benefit Concert for Buddy Dog at Club Café in Boston, MA from 4 – 6 pm.

The Benefit Concert will feature WIMG members Mara Bettencourt, Kat Chapman, Mary Crowe, CiCi Eberle, Linda Marks, Colette O’Connor and Lori Zuroff, joined by special out of town Women In Music guest singer/songwriters, Trespass Music Artists, Loretta Hagen and Tia McGraff. LadyLake Entertainment will be supporting the show on social media. The WIMG works in conjunction with charity, Light Up the Love.

Club Café is generously donating the Napoleon Room for this benefit concert and all ticket sales go directly to Buddy Dog. Purchase tickets online at https://www.clubcafe.com/tickets. Tickets are $20 each. Club Café is located at 209 Columbus Avenue, Boston, MA.
