Nico “Rocks” Colero Releases “Baile”

Nico “Rocks” Colero is an actor in many TV shows and films, with the awards to go with it, but the young NY based Latin star stepped into a music career in 2022 when he was chosen as the youngest member of the legendary boy Menudo. Since that experience performing with Menudo, he has grown into his own, and “Baile” is the title of his single in partnership with producers Klubjumpers, the longtime duo that produced such greats as Madonna, Mariah Carey, Britney Spears and the list goes on.

The tune “Baile” itself mixes soulful musicality with EDM and leaves the rest to the mixing skills of Klubjumpers, which brings the whole presence of Nico Rocks to the forefront of the music with a killer chorus that speaks for itself in the title, and backing gang vocals throughout. And although Nico Rocks is young, he tackles acting and music together with an old mature soul, and “Baile” is one of those songs you can play alongside the likes of “All Night Long” by Lionel Richie, and other examples of the last few decades. The music world needs more artists like Nico Rocks, as there’s much more to him than just a vehicle driver to the dancefloor.

“Baile” is a cerebral and festive piece of words and music that suddenly comes to and end and that only left me begging for more and reaching for many repeat listens without even dancing, but it carries a club atmosphere that draws your soul to move with the Latin beats and wonderful voicing. Nico Rocks keeps shouting “Baile,” and he can’t do it enough times before the short song with hit written all over it comes to an end. But the understated Spanish guitar and beats are the driving force behind Colero’s big voice. The addition of some piano and backing voices also spice it up and rev “Baile” from front to back, and the Latin drums provide a contagious groove.

The rich voices chant “BAILE, BAILE, BAILE” until you get the picture it’s about a gathering for dancing, particularly in the southwest of Central and South America, but of course Nico Rock X Klubjumpers take the expression universal with major cross culture purposes.  One thing “Baile” achieves is the former and the latter at the same time as one is enough for everyone to come together over music and positive topics for a break from the chaos of the current challenging times.

If you feel you’ve heard “Baile” before, it’s because the concept is full of familiarity ingredient hit songs are made of, and if it doesn’t bring mass attention to Nico Rocks, the accompaniment of Klubjumpers serves as the surefire way to do that, but the song and the video do the business to show the two collaborators meet right in the middle. I could also see “Baile” suited for TV and film, not falling far from the Colero tree, if not at least the instrumental piece for all its power. Be sure and check out the video for visual evidence of it all.
