We are stoked to have you today. Tell us about your fall season so far! What are you up to?

I just released my new single “Only Human” I partnered with Alice + Olivia and had my single release event there. It felt nice to perform again even though with COVID it of course was a different style of event for sure. I’m excited to shoot my music video for the song soon. I really hope the song can inspire people to go for their passions and not be afraid.

Any mantras before starting your writing process?

“I can do this. I can do this. I can do this.” Maybe just that repeated haha

How do you feel about genre labels?

While pop music has always been my favorite, I don’t necessarily like that I have to always be labeled as that. I’ve heard toplines I’ve written on EDM dance tracks or even country songs and I’m like wow! I actually still love the song but this wouldn’t even be considered pop now that the production behind the topline has changed.

Hardest aspect of performing?

I think insecurity in general. I don’t get nervous but I always perform better when I can’t see the crowd or think about what they are thinking. It’s hard feeling vulnerable at times and wondering if people like the songs you wrote. For instance when I’m performing and I see people texting on their phones or just not engaged it can feel a bit sad as a performer and you wonder “do they want me to stop?” Then later you realize that person was actually just taking a video of you and you should really stop being so insecure and stop doubting yourself.

What music typically plays in your home?

I have been playing a lot of Rufus du Sol lately. It brings me peace.
