Heather Locklear has opened up about addiction for the first time since her stint in rehab.
The former Melrose Place actress entered rehab in July (2018) seeking long-term treatment for substance abuse and her mental health issues following a series of run-ins with the law.
After remaining silent about her troubles for months, she opened up about addiction on Instagram on Wednesday night (September 19,2018) when she wrote a message about a friend named Josh who died after battling addiction.
“Addiction is ferocious and will try to take you down,” the post reads. “Recovery is the best revenge. Be kind to everyone you meet, your light just might change their path. Rest in peace beautiful Josh. You touched my (heart).”
In June, the 56-year-old was placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold after allegedly choking her mother and attacking her father. The week after her release she was arrested after lunging at police officers who arrived at her home in Thousand Oaks, California to investigate a reported domestic disturbance.
Heather, who was allegedly intoxicated, punched one cop and an emergency medical technician as they attempted to load her onto a gurney, and she was subsequently charged with a misdemeanor count of interfering with a law enforcement officer and two counts of misdemeanor battery for allegedly attacking the first responders. She had been arrested on similar charges in February.
Just hours after she was released from custody, Heather was taken to hospital once again, with reports suggesting a possible overdose. She reportedly went straight from hospital to a rehab facility.
She returned to social media in August to post a photo of her dog wearing sunglasses, her first upload since April. She wrote in the caption, “Sun shining day.”
