Born in New Bern, NC and raised down a 7 mile dirt road deep in the woods, Chris Hollacheck grew up in the kind of setting you’d picture being in a country song. His musical journey started very early when he learned cello at 3 years old! Chris has also played piano, trumpet, baritone, and bass guitar and performed singing and acting in numerous plays all before the age of 18.

After graduating high school, he picked up guitar in college at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. It was there that he discovered his passion for songwriting and singing country music. Once he graduated college, he moved to Nashville in 2014.

After a couple years of playing open mics and writer rounds and working odd jobs, Chris decided to leave Nashville and travel the country. He started venturing in Florida and then Texas, where he played more frequent shows and gained a diverse group of fans.

During this time, he released his first radio single “Knotty Thing” in January 2019. After 2 years in Texas, he decided to move back to Nashville where he ended up taking his music further.

Thank you for letting us interview you! Let us in on your new music! When did you record it?

I recorded it at the beginning of 2022.

Any writing traditions you have when you’re in that mode?

I always write my lyrics in the morning and put the melody to it at night and spend about a week rearranging words, rhythm, and the key it’s in.

Any other traditions you have when you’re in your recording process?

I make sure to not rush to the studio or be in a stressful mood when going to record.  It definitely affects the quality of my singing if I’m in a low state of mind.

What challenges come with recording?

Money to pay for it and making sure it’s done and ready to submit to streaming at least a month prior to the release date.

Who did you collaborate with in the studio?

My buddies Rob Daniels and Jake Clayton with JD’s Joint!  They’re some of the most professional producers I’ve ever worked with.

Any recording stories you have that you’ll remember forever from this music? Please share one with us!

No particular stories, just that amazing feeling I feel when each part of the song starts to come together.  It’s so fulfilling!

What do you want fans to appreciate about your artistry when it comes to the new music?

How much time and money is put into these songs.  I’ve put myself into some heavy struggles to make sure consistent and high quality music is provided to my fans!

After the new year we typically forget about our resolutions, have you kept yours when it comes to your music making?

I had to cut down a bit from my goal of releasing 6 songs this year to just 4 songs.   I just didn’t have enough money to do that.
