You just released a brand new song! Will you tell us a bit about it?
Sure! My newest release “Comfort” came out on August 12th and, in a nutshell, it’s about staying positive and finding comfort during really trying times.
What was your favorite part of the creative process for it?
My favorite part of the creative process for “Comfort” was definitely experimenting with a different style. While the core of the song is still acoustic based soft-pop like many of my tracks, I decided to try something a little different in the verses by featuring talk-rap type vocals which was really fun to write and record.
What is your typical songwriting process?
My typical songwriting process starts off with finding the right chords on my acoustic guitar and first building the instrumental foundation of the song. Then I play around with some different vocal melodies for the choruses until I land on something I’m happy with, and repeat this same process for the verses and bridge (if there is one). And lastly, the most time-consuming part of the process is often writing, tweaking, and re-tweaking the lyrics until I’m happy with the full picture and story of the track.
How does it feel to have the song out in the world?
It honestly feels really good to have “Comfort” out in the world. The song has been received well so far by fans, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, so it’s been very encouraging considering the style is a bit different from my “normal” sound or vibe.
What are you hoping that listeners will take away from the new song?
I’d love for listeners to hear the song and be able to find any kind of comfort in it for themselves. I wrote the majority of the track one night while struggling with some deep personal emotions, and so I hope that sincerity bleeds through in the final track in a way that listeners can really relate to.
Any other upcoming projects you want to promote?
I have something exciting in the works, but not at the point where I’m ready to share any specific details… just yet
