Hi Katie! Thanks for being here today!
Who are your main musical influences?
My main musical influences would be the Beatles, Kacey Musgraves, Ed Sheeran, Norah Jones, and Joni Mitchell.
What do you enjoy most about being an artist?
I love being able to express my emotions in a meaningful way and connect with people all over the world through my songwriting.
Of your own music, do you have a favorite song? If so, which song would that be?
This is a tough one because every time I write a new song it becomes my favorite! Looking back at all of them I think my current favorite is “Wolf Cry”. I seem to have a habit of playing this one during all my live streams. It hasn’t been recorded yet, but I am working on it this year. If you want to hear the band version of it, check out YouTube! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWdt92edKuA
How would you describe your music?
My music is uplifting, spiritual, optimistic, emotional, ethereal at times, poppy, and folky. If you want to place it in a category I would say “adult-alternative”, or folk/pop.
If you were to create a band, who would you choose as your bandmates?
That’s a great question! As a singer/songwriter in LA I’m always playing with different people. I really love Lauren Stockner on bass, Matt Bogdanow or Rob Humphreys on drums and Paul Redel on guitar. They are all amazing musicians.
How often are you writing or creating new music?
I try to write everyday whether it be a lyric or a melody. Most of the time I complete a song a week. Writing with other people or writing with a purpose in mind definitely speeds up the process!
If there were a movie made about you, what would the title be?
I think my dream would be to work with a director and make a movie about my experience busking all over LA and all over the world. I would call it “Stories from the Street” (modeled after my book) OR I want to make a movie about what it’s like being a female singer/songwriter in LA. It would be called “Confessions of a Songstress” and be like the show Sex in the City. I would be like Carrie Bradshaw – and have my own music blog and love interests.
This is such a funny question to ask because I’ve definitely thought about it outside of this interview!
