Hello Cate! Thank you so much for being here today!
Thank you for having me!
What have you all been working on lately?
I just released the song and music video for my new single “Dimension” so it’s been a lot of promoting that, but it’s a synth-pop song about that feeling you get when you meet a stranger but it feels so familiar like you’ve definitely met them before. The concept is inspired by the idea of past lives, alternate realities, and different dimensions.
What about your music would you say is rebellious or unconventional?
I don’t stay locked into a certain genre or type of song. I write what I think sounds and about real experiences that I’ve had. I think a lot of people write in a way that they think would be commercially appealing rather than authentic to themselves so in that way, I think my music could be considered unconventional.
What is your favorite part of your creative process?
I love creating harmonies. That’s the part of making a song that feels so mindless yet satisfying. I could sit there for hours and it would feel like minutes.
If you could do a duet with anyone, who would it be?
Probably Daniel Ceasar! He has this one song, “Japanese Denim” that I always play and sing harmonies over. It’s probably one of my most listened to songs ever.
What do you feel sets your music apart from other artists?
I think my music captures an otherwordly sound with a cinematic perspective. It’s dramatic, it’s ethereal, it’s futuristic.
What song do you have on repeat lately?
The song that I’m replaying 60x a day this week is Silver Screen by Kartell.
How do you recharge?
I recharge by laying in bed, smoking a joint, and cutting myself off completely from the world. Maybe going for a run or journaling.
Any upcoming projects you want to point people towards?
The project I mentioned earlier is the main thing on my plate right now!
