The beautiful sounds and fresh vibes of Hooked On Helen will have you longing for more.  We caught up with the talented due to learn more about their latest single and upcoming tour…

Thank you for sharing some time with our readers today, what have you been up to in 2019?

Thank you so much for having us! 2019 has been a whirlwind of fun stuff for us! We released our EP, Tragedy Of Physics, on May 31st. We shot several music videos, one of which – the video for ‘Liar’ – just premiered via Radio Disney’s twitter which was kind of unreal for us haha. We were humbled to have The Lifted remix our song ‘Tear This Place Apart’ recently, and we’re currently working on our live show! So many things 🙂 – super thankful for this exciting time!

Please tell us about your recent movie placement!

We have had the amazing honor of having our song, ‘Liar’ placed in the film ‘High Strung Free Dance’ in a beautiful dance sequence. In the scene, the amazingly talented Juliet Doherty dances to our song during a heart-wrenching moment in the story. We had the privilege of attending the L.A. premiere at The Arclight; being in the theater and watching Juliet perform Tyce Diorio’s choreography to OUR song so beautifully was truly breathtaking for us. We were crying haha.

We actually were given the opportunity to write additional music for the film, and we also licensed some of our older HLH tunes as well, so we ended up with 3 songs on the official motion picture soundtrack for ‘High Strung Free Dance’ and 2 more that we co-wrote for other artists.
Tell us about your upcoming tour schedule and where can we see you LIVE soon!?

We are sooo excited to say that we are FINALLY gearing up to play live!! With all of the recording and placements and videos (and real life) we’ve had going on, touring was definitely put on the back-burner. We have a show coming up at The Study in Hollywood on November 22nd and we can’t wait to get back to L.A. to play our music for our west coast friends, fans and fam. We’re hoping to book a spring/summer tour in 2020 as well, but we’re taking things 1 day at a time with all the craziness!

With such a busy schedule, how do you find the time to have fun, cut lose and enjoy life?

Honestly this can be a struggle, but we know at the end of the day how important it really is to have that balance in life. We (Jon and Nikki) have a son together, Augie, and he is in 1st grade. Spending time with him and doing all the fun family stuff is really our departure from the music whirlwind. It grounds us, and obviously being Augie’s parents is our #1 priority so when he gets home from school, its Augie time.

When we follow our dreams in life, there are sacrifices.  What do you find to be the greatest sacrifices and the greatest gifts of your career so far?

The greatest sacrifice is the lack of normal downtime and peaceful reflection haha. We’re constantly working on the next thing, going to the next place, finishing the next track, etc. We don’t get a lot of time to chill and focus on the little things. Especially living out in rural Ohio, our lives are just so different from our friends and neighbors and it can feel like maybe we’re doing this life thing wrong. But its just different. When we think about all of the amazing places we’ve gotten to go, the fantastic, talented, interesting people we’ve gotten to meet and work with – its really a no-brainer for us. Such a gift. And the greatest gift is getting to just make our art and make it how we want it. This body of work will be something that lives on when we’re gone, for our children to have as memories.
