Hi Aries! Thanks for being here today!

Thank you for having me!

Is it harder to write or produce a song?

Hmm, that’s a tough question! I’m not a producer so I feel like I can’t really accurately answer. I guess it all depends on the individual – I know both have their unique challenges!

Do you ever experience writer’s block? What do you do to get over it?

Yes, I have experienced writer’s block and it’s never fun. My strategy has always been to not push myself to the point of burnout or frustration if I am feeling that way. I try to capitalize on the times when the creativity is flowing to get as much done as possible and then if it’s not flowing I usually make myself keep going for 15-20 mins and then I’ll take a break and come back to it later.

What is your musical background? Who or what got you into wanting to make music?

Since I was a little kid I’ve always loved music so much and just listened to whatever I could get my hands on. I grew up on the East Coast and my cousins were hip hop heads so my first musical influences were Notorious B.I.G, Mos Def, Busta Rhymes, Wu Tang … When I got a little older I started singing a lot and I loved R&B so I was always listening to Destiny’s Child and SWV. After that, I pretty much listened to every genre and time period of music imaginable. I played piano and some other instruments and started taking singing lessons. I think it was actually a VH1 Behind the Music with Mariah Carey where I saw her writing and singing in the studio that made me decide I wanted to be a singer and songwriter.

What is your favorite thing about performing live shows?

Ah, there is just something so magical about performing live! I really miss it. I love connecting with people and getting to meet new people and share something that is meaningful to me, with them through my music.

Do you have a favorite song to perform or that you are looking to performing?

I love performing my 2019 single ‘Monsoon Season’. I also do a cover of Floetry’s ‘Say Yes’ that I really enjoy. 🙂

What kind of music are you listening to right now?

Lately, I have been listening to a lot of worship music. I didn’t really realize how many dope new artists were making worship music until recently. I love Maverick City Music.

Do you listen to any podcasts that are related to music? If so, which ones?

Yes! I love Dissect, where they dive deep into the making of classic albums. I also like the DIY Musician podcast which is sponsored by CD Baby. They have a lot of helpful info on there for navigating the journey of being an independent artist.

Do you like to collaborate with others? What is that process like?

Yes, I love to collaborate! I actually just released a collab track with Pomona-based artist Speeks Geak called I Choose Life (check it out wherever you like to listen to music!) The process really depends on the artist I am working with and the song itself. Lately, we have been doing more things remotely due to COVID, but I love just being in the studio and catching a vibe with someone as well.

What is next for you?

I am currently in the process of releasing my first ever EP called Sunshine! I am releasing one song from the EP every three weeks. The next single, called “Replay”, drops 2.26.2021.
