Sandra Bullock is re-teaming with bosses at Netflix to produce an adaptation of comic book Reborn.

The Blind Side actress, who recently starred in the streaming service’s hit movie Bird Box, has now confirmed that she is partnering with The Lego Batman Movie filmmaker Chris McKay, who will direct the project.

Reborn centres on 80-year-old Bonnie Black, who dies and is resurrected in a magical land, named Adystria, where she must set out on a mission to find her late husband.

The film will be based on the comic by writer Mark Millar and artist Greg Capullo. Sandra will produce alongside Millar and Capullo, who will serve as executive producers.

Sandra has enjoyed huge success with Bird Box, in which she stars as a desperate mum trying to survive an apocalyptic event. The movie was an instant hit when it became available to stream in the week before Christmas (December 2018), and quickly shattered Netflix’s viewing records. It has now been seen in over 80 million homes in the four weeks since its release.

Questions have already begun about whether a sequel could be in the works, but director Susanne Bier recently admitted she’s been so stunned over the success of the film that she hasn’t had the chance to think about a follow-up.

Asked if there were plans to make a sequel, the filmmaker told reporters at People.com, “We only just finished it! It’s funny, I’m kind of reading (about) people asking for a sequel and I’m like, ‘Hey, hey, hey, we really just finished!’ So let’s just enjoy it for now.”

Sarah Paulson and John Malkovich also appear in the film.
