Combining the smoldering class of a James Bond theme song, and the baritone voice of a Broadway leading man, Red Eye’s new single “A Girl Too Far” leaves the listener intimately close. Raise your glass and sip away at this lavish thriller. “A Girl Too Far” is just the necessary drama, half shaken, half stirred, to evolve into a late night tryst. How will the listener fair to this temptress and her devilishly fine ways? My spying eyes and ears think the probability is very high for a great time.

“A Girl Too Far” revitalizes the tantalizing mood of a sixties marquee lounge scene and the scarlet, romanticism of a who-done-it. A girl too far, a girl too far, but a woman so near, sings the man. Red Eye (the moniker of Trevor Perfect), composes the music and uses a guest vocalist in his work. In this case, Dennis Demille, is commanding as Thurl Ravenscroft (How The Grinch Stole Christmas soundtrack). You can’t even get started and she can’t be stopped, he continues. The rock symphony slays beneath his words, an ambiance of thrill and seduction. This is the song that has no time, no season and feels right at the twilight, or the bewitching hour. Ghostly remnants of the ‘girl’ leaves her mark in the song vapors long after your first listen. The swooping orchestration fills the spaces and creates an even deeper listening experience. As a listener, I was just so zeroed in on the song, and nothing could distract me. To hear this song on vinyl, with a couple of loud speakers filling the room, now that would be ideal.

Red Eye, who took home runner-up honors for ‘song of the decade’ from radio station Severn FM for “Moroccan Fruit”, has this innate ability to compose with mystery. As a listener, you keep wanting to know what’s around the corner. How is this story going to end? I can tell you that the song is fully capable of inspiring a movie of its own, and it’s just the right distraction from a world with all too much seriousness. I think, too, this song reminds the listener of the people that are in their lives with dual motives. Watch your backs. Someone that comes across as sincere, might be fake and a cunning individual that wreaks havoc, or a tornado in their path. That’s just one interpretation. I loved the idea of the cloud of mystery and this spy-like game of cat and mouse. Red Eye represents these themes at an exceptional level.

Truly, I can’t recall anything similar, other than what you might hear on a movie soundtrack or stage. The storytelling is incredible and the textured drama and suspense is ear catching. A wide swath of music lovers should check out “A Girl Too Far”. Fans of Depeche Mode, Nick Cave, Joy Division, Frank Sinatra and The Doors are just a quick short list. I think this song kicks the door wide open for a variety of tastes. Red Eye continue to astound.
